I'm now in Portland getting settled in to the new location and starting to work more. I've been painting and sketching daily and doing a bit of writing. I now see Mike much more than previously and recently enjoyed an amiable arrival and amusing antics from an artist also acknowledged as Awkward Autumn. I'm still building my initial impressions of the new area though... more to come.

Fossil hunting on the coast...sort of. In all events, I was able to work another watercolor drawing into my new mini sketchbook.

Bonnie and Autumn

Last night: Coffee, Bonnie's ear, more coffee, another of Autumn looking downward. A random study of a cloth sitting on a lonely bracket.
It was nice to work with pencil for the majority of the evening.

Gesture and Rendering

During last nights drawing session I worked on balancing line gesture and rendering. I think I like the focus that this can create.

Here is a quick pencil sketch of Autumn, and here is some guy named Larry at Horse Head. I think I need to start drawing in the daylight. Or, viewing my sketch work in various light, regardless of the time that I work.

Pretty slow drawing night Wednesday.. I didn't sketch a person, (or even a part of one) the entire evening.
