Caldera Public House

Just another sketch that I did about a week ago. The lighting in all night time restaurants and pubs is always the same amber glint. I end up looking around for a something to draw, and after getting busted by the only interesting looking people, I usually settle for a fixture of some type.

This is a page that I already posted once, but have sketched on a bit more lately... It is likely that over the coming weeks it will become crowded then over used and finally, after it has lost all charm, I'll tuck it away.

Bookshelf Door

I'm now in Portland getting settled in to the new location and starting to work more. I've been painting and sketching daily and doing a bit of writing. I now see Mike much more than previously and recently enjoyed an amiable arrival and amusing antics from an artist also acknowledged as Awkward Autumn. I'm still building my initial impressions of the new area though... more to come.

The Oregon Swamp Crab....until otherwise identified. Invasive species or native terror? Most likely my conceived image of this monster is very close to reality.

Fossil hunting on the coast...sort of. In all events, I was able to work another watercolor drawing into my new mini sketchbook.

Bonnie and Autumn

Last night: Coffee, Bonnie's ear, more coffee, another of Autumn looking downward. A random study of a cloth sitting on a lonely bracket.
It was nice to work with pencil for the majority of the evening.

Gesture and Rendering

During last nights drawing session I worked on balancing line gesture and rendering. I think I like the focus that this can create.

Here is a quick pencil sketch of Autumn, and here is some guy named Larry at Horse Head. I think I need to start drawing in the daylight. Or, viewing my sketch work in various light, regardless of the time that I work.

Pretty slow drawing night Wednesday.. I didn't sketch a person, (or even a part of one) the entire evening.

Two Friends, a Cactus, and a Piece of Me

This drawing is a dedication of sorts to a couple of friends. Also it's an exploration in hierarchy and object placement.

A self portrait done at my place. I worked on this one exclusively at night. I was unable to back up very far throughout the process.

Respirator

Here is a filter I designed for a respirator. It was based on the wishes of a friend who, on a number of occasions, had desired to smoke and simultaneously not breath other additional poisons. I suppose it is a device that allows the user to choose a little more freely what they would like to breath and when. A sort-of control measure for the inhaler.

I suppose that this image works as well as any for my first posting here. It is a drawing that I did a couple of months ago.
